Alumn Professor Nikolai Petrovsky’s Vaccine Success

We are proud to report that Launceston Church Grammar School Alum Professor Nikolai Petrovsky has led a team that has developed Australia’s first Coronavirus vaccine that is capable of offering protection against the Delta strain of Covid.

Professor Petrovsky attended the school from 1972-1975 and went on to study at UTAS and has a considerable track record in creating vaccines for public health emergencies and protecting populations from biological warfare, such as the anthrax letter terrorist attacks in the US in 2004. Petrovsky recognised early in 2020 that there was a potential pandemic with global health implications and with his company, Vaxine, began work on creating a vaccine.
