Casual Boarding House Assistant

Situated in northern Tasmania, Launceston Church Grammar School is an Anglican co-educational day and boarding school and has been a School of educational excellence for 175 years. Our boarding house is like a home away from home – a safe haven for our Boarders where growth and friendship flourish.

We are looking to appoint casual Boarding House Assistant’s to join our dynamic Boarding House team. This position will collaborate closely with all Boarding House Assistant’s, overseeing and cultivating a nurturing and supportive environment for our students.

You will support our students by providing high-quality pastoral care and contributing to their personal development and wellbeing.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • An understanding of boarding houses, educational environments or experience in an environment dealing with children/adolescents such as a parent or carer.  
  • Experience in dealing with children and / or young adults (desirable)
  • Working knowledge of the operations of boarding facilities, would be an advantage but is not essential
  • current registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Tasmania), or be eligible for registration
  • current National Police History Record Check, or be willing to obtain
  • current first aid in education & care setting (HLTAID012) qualifications and CPR (HLTAID009), or be willing to attain
  • a current driver’s licence.

French Teacher

Are you passionate about education and inspiring young minds for a lifelong love for languages? We’re seeking an experienced and innovative French Language Teacher to join our team. Launceston Church Grammar School is a vibrant learning community committed to fostering creativity, innovation, and excellence.

This is a permanent part time opportunity, 0.6-0.8FTE, with ideally an immediate start in Term 2, 2024.

What You’ll Do:

Your role is crucial in fostering a love for languages and creating a positive learning environment for our students. Your contribution is key to shaping an engaging language-learning experience that sparks curiosity and cultivates a deep appreciation for communication. The ability to teach effectively across different proficiency levels is highly valued.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
  • Specialisation and/or strong previous experience in French.
  • Tasmanian Teachers Registration (TRB)
  • Demonstrated experience teaching French in a Primary School or similar environment.
  • Experience with the International Baccalaureate’s Primary Years Programme and Australian Curriculum would be advantageous but not essential.
  • An understanding of Inquiry pedagogy.
  • Working with Vulnerable People Registration – Department of Consumer, Building and Occupational Services.

Relief Teachers

At Launceston Church Grammar School, we are an Anglican co-educational day and boarding community where global learners and leaders are nurtured, challenged and inspired.

Are you a qualified teacher looking for casual work?  We are now recruiting for relief teachers to join our passionate and dedicated team at both our Junior and Senior Campus.

Our classes range from Early Learning to Grade 12 across two campuses. The Senior Campus is situated at Mowbray Heights and the Junior Campus is located in East Launceston.

We are interest in hearing from you if you have:

  • tertiary qualifications in Education;
  • current registration with the Tasmanian Teacher’s Registration Board, or be eligible for registration;
  • current registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Tasmania) or be eligible for registration.
  • sound knowledge of the Australian Curriculum;
  • previous teaching experience is desired;
  • demonstrated high level communication skills; and
  • sound ICT skills, particularly in the use of computers as a learning technology in skills;
