Parent Grade Representatives
Community
Community is at the heart of Grammar, and our Parent Grade Representatives (PGRs) are integral in growing and strengthening the bonds of connection which our School enjoys. This voluntary role serves to maintain communication between parents, while also being a valuable resource to teachers and the grade. The Parent Grade Representatives also facilitate social interaction among families in the school community.

The Parent Grade Representative Role
The PGR role is essentially about parents helping and supporting one another with questions they may have about their child's school experience. They may also choose to promote how parents can help to support the School, whether in class or at events. PGRs can also seek support from our Events team when they organise activities, to provide assistance and help make the event a success. Furthermore, there may be opportunities for PGRs to create parent focus groups that will provide feedback on School matters.
Some other activities typically associated with the PGR role include:
- welcoming new families to the Grade and coordinating a start of the year social activity for parents
- providing parents with information about how parents might become involved in activities in which their child is taking part
- maintaining / administrating the grade's parent communication platform (Whatsapp, Messenger, myGrammar etc.)
- coordinating and encouraging parent attendance at key events
- sharing information about and encouraging participation in fundraising and service initiatives
- assisting with the re-direction of queries to the appropriate staff member when required
- establishing and maintaining positive links with the broader community to strengthen our commitment to supporting Launceston and regional Tasmania.
