Our Food Services team is a collaborative, hardworking and takes pride in providing exceptional food and dining experiences. Our accomplished team works closely with students, families and staff to create a warm, customer-focused environment and we are seeking an experienced Chef to join the team.

About the Role

Under the direction of the Catering Manager, the Boarding Chef plays an important role within our boarding community, supporting the delivery of a high-quality, nutritious catering service predominantly for our boarding students.

This role is well suited to a culinary professional who values healthy, well-balanced food services, enjoys contributing to a positive dining environment and understands the importance of food safety regulations.

This position is casual in nature and shifts are as rostered.

Duties and Responsibilities  

Food Preparation and Safety

  • Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, ensuring food quality, taste, presentation, and appropriate portioning.  
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic kitchen environment, leading by example in exemplary professional standards. 
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and correctly in accordance with standard operating procedures. 
  • Comply with and maintain all food safety standards and regulatory requirements at all times, ensuring safe food handling practices are consistently followed. 
  • Ensure correct food handling, storage, and labelling practices are maintained. 

 Kitchen Operations 

  • Work cooperatively with kitchen and service staff, communicating effectively to ensure smooth kitchen operations. 
  • Monitor and assist with stock rotation and inventory control, reporting stock levels and ordering requirements in a timely manner. 
  • Minimise food waste through efficient preparation, storage, and portion control. 
  • Assist with menu planning and development as required, contributing practical input based on operational needs. 
  • Meet service timelines and daily production requirements in a busy kitchen environment. 
  • Any other duties as required by your Manager.

About you

  • Minimum Experience – 5 years proven experience in a commercial kitchen (preferably in high-volume catering (e.g. schools, boarding, hospitality, healthcare or institutional settings) 
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene regulations, and compliance standards 
  • Proven ability to consistently produce high-quality meals at scale, with attention to nutrition, portion control, presentation, and dietary requirements
  • Experience working within structured menu systems, with ability to contribute practical input to menu planning and continuous improvement
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy, fast-paced kitchen environment, meeting strict service timeframes
  • Demonstrated capacity to maintain cleanliness, organisation, and safe kitchen practices at all times
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a small team environment
  • Positive, professional approach with a commitment to contributing to a welcoming and supportive boarding community
  • High level of reliability, flexibility, and ability to work independently during rostered shifts (including afternoons and weekends)

Qualifications and Requirements 

  • Current Working with Vulnerable People Registration - Department of Justice (or ability to obtain)
  • National Police Check, or willingness to obtain
  • Vocational Qualification in Commercial Cookery, or similar 
  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (desired) 
  • First Aid - HLTAID012 - Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting qualification 
  • First Aid - HLTAID009 - Provide CPR

Lead a Proud Rowing Tradition at Launceston Church Grammar School

Launceston Church Grammar School is an Anglican co-educational day and boarding school in northern Tasmania, renowned for excellence in education, wellbeing and community connection. Our rowing program is a proud and highly valued part of School life, supported by strong student participation, dedicated coaches, engaged families and quality facilities.

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head of Rowing to lead and further develop our rowing program. This is a full-time leadership position reporting to the Head of Sporting Programs and offers the opportunity to shape the future of rowing at Launceston Grammar while fostering a positive and aspirational team culture.

About the Role

The Head of Rowing is a prominent leadership role within both the School and the wider Tasmanian rowing community. The successful candidate will lead all aspects of the rowing program, balancing participation and enjoyment with performance and high achievement.

This role requires a dynamic and organised leader who can manage the day-to-day logistics of training and competition while also driving long-term program growth and development. This position includes regular early mornings, weekend commitments and out-of-hours work, balanced by a flexible work schedule in consultation with the Head of Sporting Programs.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and develop a rowing program ethos aligned with the values and direction of the School
  • Coordinate students, coaches, staff and parents to support student growth and rowing success
  • Recruit, mentor and manage rowing coaches and support staff
  • Oversee rowing operations, including training schedules, regattas, camps and logistics
  • Manage rowing equipment, maintenance and program resources in collaboration with the Boatshed Manager
  • Coordinate crew selection processes and establish clear performance and development goals
  • Build positive relationships with Rowing Tasmania, local rowing clubs and school rowing programs across the State
  • Support student wellbeing, injury prevention, nutrition and recovery practices
  • Contribute to financial planning, budgeting and strategic development of the rowing program
  • Lead rowing-related events, community engagement initiatives and fundraising activities
  • Promote participation pathways including club rowing and high-performance opportunities
  • Assist the Head of Sporting Programs with broader sports program initiatives during Terms 2 and 3
  • Represent the School and rowing program in a positive and professional manner at all times


About You

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in education, sports management or a discipline related to rowing
  • Minimum level 1 Rowing Australia coaching accreditation.
  • Current Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration
  • National Police Check or willingness to obtain
  • Current HLTAID012 – Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting
  • Current HLTAID009 – Provide CPR
  • Current Class C Driver’s Licence, with the ability to tow a boat trailer
  • Light Rigid (LR) Bus Licence (desirable)
  • Personal involvement and achievement in rowing as a coach, athlete or administrator

Create Meaningful Experiences Beyond the Classroom

Launceston Church Grammar School is an Anglican co-educational day and boarding school in northern Tasmania. Known for educational excellence and a strong, values-based community, we provide rich learning and co-curricular experiences for students from Early Learning to Year 12.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivational Careers Advisor to lead the delivery of career education, counselling, and pathway support for senior secondary students in Grades 10 to 12.  This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and capable advisor to step into a highly self-directed role.

This is a part-time position, 0.6 FTE, offered as a fixed-term contract for the remainder of 2026. The School is open to discussing the working pattern and reviewing the role with a view to continuation into 2027.

About the Role

The Careers Advisor is responsible for leading the delivery of career education, counselling, and pathway support for senior secondary students in Grades 10 to 12. The role provides individual and group guidance, coordinates key careers programs and events, and supports students, families, and staff in preparing for successful transitions to tertiary study, training, and employment.

This is a stand alone role, reporting to the Assistant Director of Learning, with high levels of autonomy and self-direction. The role will provide you with opportunity to engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

As part of this role, you will be required to:

  • Provide individual career counselling and pathway guidance to senior students, supporting post-school transitions including university, training, apprenticeships, and employment.
  • Assist students with tertiary applications, scholarships, accommodation, and work readiness skills such as résumés, interviews, and job search preparation.
  • Plan and deliver careers education programs, presentations, workshops, and enrichment activities for students across multiple year levels.
  • Support students, parents, and staff throughout subject selection processes, ensuring informed pathway planning aligned to student goals and strengths.
  • Coordinate careers events, industry engagement activities, school visits, and partnerships with universities, training providers, employers, and community organisations.
  • Maintain effective careers communication through school platforms and provide accurate reporting, record keeping, and budget management for careers programs and services.
  • Contribute positively to the wider school community by demonstrating strong collaboration, professional standards, workplace safety, and alignment with school values.

  • Experience with counselling frameworks such as narrative counselling.
  • Knowledge of digital careers platforms and online education resources.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • A CICA-endorsed Graduate Certificate in Career Development, or a relevant bachelor’s degree in a field such as education or psychology together with a Certificate IV in Career Development, or a higher-level qualification.

Our classes range from Early Learning to Grade 12 across two campuses. The Senior Campus is situated at Mowbray Heights and the Junior Campus is located in East Launceston.
