Inspire Innovation: STEAM Teacher Opportunity at Launceston Church Grammar School

Launceston Church Grammar School is an Anglican co-educational day and boarding school in northern Tasmania. We are seeking applications from creative and future-focused educators for a STEAM Teacher position within our Junior Campus, commencing in 2026.

About the Role

As a STEAM Teacher at LCGS, you will deliver dynamic, inquiry-driven learning experiences across Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics for students from Prep to Grade 6. Working within the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP), you will support transdisciplinary Units of Inquiry and inspire students to think creatively, solve problems, and explore real-world concepts with curiosity.

As part of this role, you will be required to:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality STEAM lessons aligned with the Australian Curriculum and IB PYP inquiry-based philosophy.
  • Promote hands-on, project-based learning that cultivates experimentation, collaboration, and critical thinking.
  • Work closely with classroom teachers to integrate STEAM concepts into transdisciplinary learning experiences.
  • Develop, maintain, and document a coherent Prep–Grade 6 STEAM scope and sequence.
  • Use assessment data to monitor student progress and inform planning.
  • Support whole-school initiatives that celebrate STEAM learning, such as science fairs, exhibitions or maker events.
  • Engage professionally in ongoing learning, including IB PYP training and school-based development.
  • Contribute positively to the Junior Campus community and uphold the school’s commitment to child safety and wellbeing.

This is a part-time 0.4 FTE role with hours to be worked across Monday–Friday.

About You

We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative educator who demonstrates:

  • A strong understanding of inquiry-based learning and the IB PYP framework.
  • Experience teaching STEAM subjects in a primary school setting, including knowledge of child development from Prep to Grade 6.

Inspire Young Learners: Primary Teacher Opportunity at Launceston Church Grammar School

We are seeking an enthusiastic and faith-driven Assistant School Chaplain to join our Junior Campus team. This role will work alongside the School Chaplain and PYP Coordinator to champion Anglican values across teaching, learning, and pastoral care, fostering spiritual growth and wellbeing within the school community.

About the Role

The Assistant School Chaplain will:

  • Provide inspiring Christian leadership to students and staff, embedding Anglican values across the Junior Campus.
  • Support Pastoral Care and Chaplaincy teams, contributing to assemblies, chapel services, camps, retreats, and other community events.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to deliver a PYP-integrated Christian Studies program for Prep to Grade 6, aligning teaching with Anglican values and service-learning objectives.

Permanent full-time teaching role with a fixed-term leadership responsibility

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Learning Enrichment Coordinator, to lead and coordinate the provision of learning enrichment across our Senior Campus, supporting students with diverse educational needs, who require learning support and extension opportunities from Grade 7 to Grade 12.

This is a permanent full time teaching position (1 FTE) with a 3-year fixed term appointment to the Learning Enrichment Coordinator role.

About the role

The Learning Enrichment Coordinator will:

  • Coordinate learning needs assessments for new and existing students.
  • Oversee NCCD compliance and apply for additional funding for students with identified needs.
  • Develop and implement Education Plans (EPs) and Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in consultation with teachers and parents.
  • Teach and support students requiring enrichment and extension.
  • Liaise with the TASC Liaison Officer regarding examination adjustments and reasonable accommodations.
  • Lead, supervise, and mentor Learning Assistants.
  • Promote inclusive teaching strategies and support teachers to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Review, develop, and monitor Learning Enrichment programs, incorporating student assessment data and feedback.
  • Coordinate resources, budgeting, and professional networks to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Maintain knowledge of current research, curriculum trends, and technology to support student learning.

All staff are expected to participate in professional learning, co-curricular programs, and school events.

About You

We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic education who demonstrates:

  • Strong curriculum knowledge, exemplary pedagogical practice, and at least 5 years’ of teaching experience.
  • Proven capacity to coordinate teams or experience in leading collaborative initiatives.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the specific academic, social and pastoral needs of students and a particular enthusiasm for working with young people.
  • A commitment to fostering a culture that is supportive and responsive to individual student needs;
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate staff and positively influence student learning outcomes.
  • Experience in developing or contributing to programmes to support those students who require learning support and extension;
  • Confidence in the use of technology and a willingness to integrate it effectively to enhance learning; and
  • A strong understanding of, and commitment to, the School’s child safety policies, including the Australian Child Safe framework, with demonstrated experience in promoting student wellbeing and safety.

In addition to the above, previous experience in supporting pre-service teachers, VET, or workplace learning programs is highly desirable.
