As an Anglican Church School, Launceston Grammar is keenly concerned with the spiritual awareness and development of its members. Each campus has a dedicated Chaplain who plays a crucial role in the spiritual wellbeing of our students, staff and families. They provide spiritual leadership, emotional support, and foster a strong sense of community within the School.
Each student attends chapel once a week and our Chaplains also conduct other Chapel services such as commencement services, leadership induction, Founders Day service and Christmas carol service. Junior students undertake study of religions as part of their formal learning program and at the Senior Campus, all students take part in Christian Studies lessons up to Grade 10.
School Chaplain, Rev Alastair Crouch brings valuable pastoral experience to our community, having previously served as Rector of the Parish of Wynyard in Tasmania's northwest.
Rev Crouch's approach to chaplaincy centres on making faith accessible, engaging and relevant to young people. He is passionate about creating an environment where students feel comfortable exploring life's big questions and developing their own understanding of faith and spirituality. His philosophy is simple: chaplaincy should be fun, curious and engaging.
Understanding that spirituality forms an integral part of human experience, Rev Crouch recognises the unique opportunity that school life provides for students to explore questions of meaning, purpose and identity. He embraces our school's inclusive approach to spiritual development, which reflects the generous spirit of Anglican education.
Rev Crouch considers it a privilege to journey alongside students during these formative years, supporting them as they discover who they are, consider who they wish to become, and thoughtfully engage with matters of faith and belief. Through chapel services, classroom visits, pastoral care and informal conversations around the school, Rev Crouch works to create a welcoming spiritual environment where all members of our community can flourish.
