Congratulations to all students involved in one of the many productions over the last fortnight. We have been entertained by Grades 1, Grade 2, Grade 5, Grade 9 Drama, Grade 10 Drama and our Dance Classes with more performances planned for this coming week from Early Learning. In each performance I saw, I was impressed by the sophistication of the ideas conveyed by students and the way staff had so clearly supported the students to have the confidence to take to the stage. Thank you to all staff for enabling each student to shine. Particular mention must be made of Mrs Natalie Hillier who wrote the lyrics and music for their environmental musical, A Plastic Problem.
For families with a student at Senior Campus next year, a reminder that auditions for Cats will be held next Friday. In 2022, the cast, crew and orchestra will comprise students from Grades 7-12 and all students are encouraged to get involved. To find out more, students or parents should reach out to the Music staff for an audition pack as soon as possible.
In recent days a number of students have learned that their efforts during this year have been rewarded and recognised. Congratulations go to:
- Laura Winter (Grade 10) who is one of the successful recipients of the 2021 Frank MacDonald Memorial Prize;
- Hannah Woollams (Grade 10) who earned third place in the 2021 Science Teacher Association Competition for her research investigation; and
- Sarah Scott (Grade 11) who has been awarded the National Summer Art Scholarship to attend the National Gallery of Australia Summer School.
Each of these students together with their teachers and parents should be proud of what they have achieved.
Thank you once again to all parents who made time at the end of last term to complete the Parent Survey. MMG have now presented their feedback to the School Board and Senior Executive. This feedback is now informing planning for 2022 and more information will be shared with families before the end of term.
End of Year Events
This coming Wednesday (1 December) our Junior and Senior Campus staff together with our Chaplains have planned an unmissable Carol Service at St John’s with doors opening at 6:30pm for a 7:00pm service.
The following Wednesday (8 December) is Graduation and Presentation Evening in the Albert Hall for families in Grade 5 to Grade 12. We are starting the evening earlier this year (doors opening at 5:00pm for a 5:30pm start) so that an earlier finish makes it possible for families to gather afterwards and continue celebrating together all that their children have achieved this year at School.
