Launceston Grammar Careers Centre

Launceston Grammar’s Careers Centre is a contemporary and welcoming resource assisting students as they transition through school to life beyond Grade 12. The School offers intensive pathway planning to students from Grade 10 to 12.

Our Careers Centre services include:

  • Coordinating the Morrisby Profile testing and follow-up exploration sessions for all Grade 10 students;
  • Delivering the Grade 10 Futures Activity Week which includes work readiness skill development, transitioning to senior secondary years, career exploration and life beyond school opportunities;
  • Conducting one-to-one career counselling appointments with students;
  • Delivering timely whole grade information sessions on topics including preparing for life after school, the tertiary application process, scholarships and accommodation;
  • Hosting representatives from various universities (both Tasmanian and interstate) and other training providers (e.g. International College of Hotel Management)
  • Defence Force (ADF), with sessions offered through the recess or lunch period to allow as many students as possible to attend;
  • Organising and hosting “Career Conversations” where students meet with professionals working in their career area of interest;
  • Assisting students with their applications to universities and other institutions, including course, accommodation and scholarship applications;
  • Assisting students with entrepreneurship skills development and mentoring;
  • Optional work experience programme where interested students are assisted with obtaining placements for career exploration;
  • Coordinating School-Based Apprenticeships/ Traineeships;
  • Work readiness skill development (e.g. resumes, cover letters and interview skills);
  • Providing information about key dates and procedures for further education, such as UCAT assessment, university applications and scholarships;
  • Providing information about external opportunities and events, such as gap year programs, Open Days, ADF work experience and university taster events; and
  • Keeping stock of an extensive range of up-to-date print resources, including careers guides, university course guides, scholarships and accommodation information for most Australian universities.
