The Foundation works to improve the educational and sporting facilities of the school; to keep up with the changes in modern teaching methods; and to ensure Grammar's continued independence. The Foundation's objective is to create and support a strong and vital school family by inviting teachers, parents, past parents, grandparents and relatives, old scholars and friends to become members of the Foundation.
The Launcestonian Foundation has a Board of directors, of which twelve are the executive directors.
The Foundation Board is composed of three sub-committees: finance, bequest and events committees.
The development programme is the actual fundraising side of the school's building and development strategy. This is done by:
- promoting the school through class reunions, newsletters, magazines and community activities
- involving the school family and wider community in the life of the school
- soliciting financial support for the school, through annual gifts, bequests and scholarships.
The development strategy has five main programmes:
- Annual Giving Programme
- Headmaster's Foundation Welcome Cocktails, called 'Foundation for the Future'
- Major gifts programme
- Bequest programme
- Scholarship programme
