Welcome to the Launceston Church Grammar School website. I trust the images and information will give you a taste of some of the aspects and features of our wonderful school. I invite you to visit us at Grammar, to ask questions about what matters most to you and to witness first hand the energy and vitality of this famous school.
Founded in 1846, Grammar is the oldest continuously operating school in Australia and it has a distinguished reputation for providing outstanding education in Tasmania. Students respond to this rich heritage with pride. Striving for excellence is the foundation.
Grammar is a dynamic community strongly committed to Christian principles. The values of justice, tolerance and compassion are acknowledged in all endeavours. We believe there is genuine warmth in each welcome, a respect for and interest in each individual, and an honest pursuit of the truth in all endeavours. We aspire to the highest standards of behaviour and achievement, and this is demonstrated amongst the students and staff by an emphasis on strong, supportive teamwork.
Fostering the partnership between the family and the school through clear and continuous communication is a key to our students' success.
Grammar offers a contemporary and interesting range of academic subjects, designed to capture a student's curiosity and develop a lifelong love of learning. The results of our senior students are testimony to the high standards, our teachers set and the determination of our students to reach them. We hold great expectations for all our students at Grammar. They may, for example, reap the rewards from participating in our world - class program in Outdoor Education, our imaginative and innovative art experiences or our inspired music curriculum. We celebrate the personal achievements and successes of our youngest preschool children right through to those young men and women in the senior school years.
